NEW FOR 2009:
- Single LX model offered, with revised standard and optional features
- Convertible discontinued
For 2009, the Chrysler PT Cruiser pares down to a single trim line, the LX, and drops the convertible version. Changes to the LX model, which was previously the base trim line, include standard air conditioning, and with Sirius satellite radio, a sunroof and heated seats as stand-alone options. The Sound Group package has been discontinued.
The PT Cruiser now comes with a single engine choice, a naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder, mated to a five-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic.
Features include 15-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, inflatable driver's knee blocker, power locks with keyless entry, manual remote mirrors, cloth seats, 65/35 fold-and-tumble removable rear seats, CD/MP3 stereo with audio input, tilt steering, tire pressure monitoring lamp, variable intermittent wipers and rear washer/wiper.
Available options include four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, floor mats, heated power seats, power mirrors, sunroof, Stain Repel upholstery, traction control, cruise control and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Although it's been around for a while, the PT Cruiser remains a well-priced and extremely useful little hauler, with upright seating for five, excellent visibility, great headroom and impressive cargo-carrying capability.
